John W. Smith is a tactical folding knife legend. His pieces can be hard to come by, and when they do come around they go fast! The reason: these custom pieces are a part of knife making history. Simple, refined, and flawlessly executed, a John W. Smith custom is a jewel in any collection. Mr. Smith developed the Nexus design for his personal use and now offers it to us! This piece has a hand rubbed satin, CPM-S45VN blade, 3 alloy Mokuti bolsters and clip, jeweled and anodized titanium liners with matching hardware and Ivory White Westinghouse paper Micarta with matching file worked back spacer.
Brand new, direct from John W. Smith.
Blade: Truly a thing of beauty, the tactical spear point blade is flawlessly hand-made with a long swedge, hand rubbed satin finish and shallow hollow grind that will perform well if you can bear putting it to use. Phosphor bronze washers provide smooth operation with deployment via anodized stepped titanium thumb studs. The JWS logo is etched on the base of the tang.
Handle: Anodized titanium liners and hardware complement the handsome, diamond textured antique Westinghouse Micarta scales and file worked back spacer which rides proud to the liners for a more contoured feel. Mokuti bolsters are dovetailed to the scales for a striking custom look. Inside the liners you will see engine turned jeweling, a truly custom detail. The simple liner lock delivers solid and secure lockup and is scalloped for traction in operation.
Carries via a right hand, milled Mokuti pocket clip.
CPM-S45VN:Â An evolution in Crucible’s S30-series, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN and offers an upgrade to Elmax with better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and sharpness with similar edge retention.
